Hi, love the blog, especially the pic on the outtakes page. Since you asked for outtake ideas, I happened to be thinking of a certain situation this morning. Jasper just up and left everyone without explanation, so his first visit home in uniform must have been awkward. :) Love to see that. :) Love the outtakes, whatever they are. I had a hard time choosing in that poll. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a really good idea. At the moment, the outtake where Rose discovers he's gone is tied for the lead with the predictably popular sex ban teasing. Rose could never quite get her head around why he joined the army, it never made sense to her because, although she knew Jasper was a physical kinda guy, he was actually quite studious and quite a lot of the time, too.
ReplyDeleteShe could never understand why he chose something so noisy and violent to do! I'm not sure if he ever did go home in uniform, though. He was based in Georgia to start with, and then, later, in Colorado. I'll have to get my thinking cap on and see if I can work something out. Maybe she could visit him somewhere, or he could be working somewhere near her for a couple of days...

Dang, my choice isn't in the running. I'm really curious to see Jasper-the-soilder befor the trauma. I figure there must have been a time when he was not only very good at being a soilder, but was also very comfortable/happy with being one too.
ReplyDeleteJasper has a very extensive military back story, in my head at least. The photographs he found in Alice's studio are explained at some point, chapter 47, I think...and later on, in chapter 55, we learn even more. But, at some point, I do hope to write the stand alone story. The only thing is, I'm not sure if I'm going to write it as a fan fiction, or have a go at writing an original story...

I think you chose the option where Pete and Jasper are preparing to deploy to Iraq? I think I will write that outtake regardless. Jasper and Peter were both heading up 6 man teams in and around the Middle East before their teams were merged for the invasion of Iraq. Jasper and Peter met up in Paris in December 2002 to get themselves ready to work together again. They'd worked together before, but not quite like this. This time, Jasper was Pete's commanding officer, not just his friend.
In the end, it worked out well. Pete gave Jay his full support and had his back every step of the way.
Peter also met Charlotte in Paris and married her two days later. Sam was born nine months later!
But I'll go into that more another time!
